1. Cherries

Cherries can make it difficult for your dog to breathe and, in some cases, can also result in death. Just one cherry can cause diarrhea and other digestive problems. The cherry itself is not poisonous, but the cherry pit can be toxic to pets (and humans!).

2. Apple Seeds

We all know how popular apples are among humans and dogs. Although the apple itself is not harmful, the seeds contain cyanide. Depending on the size of the dog, even a relatively small amount can be dangerous. Better to be safe than sorry!

3. Mushrooms

While some mushrooms may not be harmful for your dog, it is essential to ensure that you aren't feeding them the poisonous ones – it can often be hard to tell. Feeding your dog a toxic species of mushroom can lead to seizures and organ failure.

4. Onions and Garlic

Of the two, garlic is known to be more dangerous to dogs than onions, but it's best to stay clear of both. Ingesting onions or garlic can cause your dog to have an elevated heart rate, rapid breathing and, in some cases, can even be fatal.

5. Avocados

It doesn't matter how amazing guacamole is, never feed it to your dog. Guacamole is made from avocados, which contains a substance called persin. It is harmful to some humans, and highly toxic for dogs.

6. Grapes and Raisins

While some dogs can digest grapes or raisins without any problems at all, not all of them can. Why bother taking a risk? Dogs that are unable to tolerate grapes or raisins can suffer from permanent kidney damage if they are ingested.

7. Apricots

The pulp of apricot isn't dangerous to dogs, but other parts of the plant, including seeds, leaves, and stems can pose a toxic danger. These plants also have cyanide, which can cause respiratory failure and may be fatal.

8. Tomato Plants

Even though red tomatoes can be beneficial to dogs, the plant itself is very harmful. The leaves and stems of the plant can cause gastrointestinal issues in dogs. Definitely not worth the risk!
