One of the hardest things about getting your new Shih Tzu is picking the perfect name. Your do will have his or her name for life, and you want to make sure it's a good one - one that's easily understood by your dog and one that is fitting for his or her looks or personality.
Naming a dog is not a random or spontaneous exercise. Several different aspects have to be considered.
Here are some tips for choosing the right name for your dog:
1) Always opt for a short name. Dogs do not have the ability to recollect or recognize very long names. Ideally, your pet's name should be two syllables, although one is sufficient as well. Complex names are not appropriate. If you're set on a long name, choose one that can easily be shortened to be more recognizable by your dog.
