Fortunately, there are signs to look for that may reveal conditions of heart issues or problems with your dog. It is important that you recognize the signs and take your dog immediately to the vet once they are noticed.
- Swollen Belly: This is generally caused by a fluid buildup in the organs
- Increased Heart Rate: Feel your dog’s chest for a rapid heart rate
- Vomiting: Often connected to a poor appetite
- Fatigue: If your dog is not very energetic or doesn’t want to play
- Fainting: When not enough blood reaches the brain, the dog can faint
- Fever: A higher than normal body temperature for a sustained period may be a sign
- Breathing: Your dog can’t seem to catch its breath when exercising
